Paving

Asphalt concrete or HMA (hot mix asphalt concrete) is commonly used in two applications; a new layer on a prepared subgrade or an overlay on an existing pavement surface. Asphalt concrete is composed of approximately 95% aggregate and 5% asphalt cement.

A.C. pavements, typically a minimum of 2″ thickness, is installed on a prepared (graded and compacted) subgrade for roads, parking lots, and airfields.

A.C. overlay is applying a new layer of asphalt concrete, typically a minimum of 1.5″, on a deteriorating surface. This is installed when the existing surface is deteriorating and is less expensive than removing and replacing the existing pavement surface.

Oahu Sealcoating & Paving, LLC has the ability to perform both types of paving methods.
